Allergens

Food-in-Balance takes allergens very seriously and we ask you to tell us before ordering if you have any food allergies. We want to ensure you can enjoy our products safely.

All products are labelled with their ingredients and flour types. All grains used - rye, wheat, spelt and Khorasan - contain GLUTEN. Please read below note about our gluten free products. We also sell products with NUTS and seeds (including SESAME).

Crafting of the bread occurs in a family kitchen that handles most of the EU's list of 14 major food allergens* and whilst every effort is made to exclude cross-contamination, it cannot be guaranteed.

Gluten Free Sourdough

Our gluten free options are sadly NOT suitable for coeliacs or those people with severe gluten allergies. We would love to be able to cater for everyone but the nature of our business – baking out of a home kitchen- makes it almost impossible to guarantee no cross-contamination of products.

We maintain the standards of a five-star hygiene rated kitchen, but since making the difficult decision to not cater for severe allergies we have decided to bake the GF products on the same day that we make those containing gluten. We do, however, use completely separate utensils and bakeware and store the flour separately from the gluten-containing flours. We do not, however, have a separate oven for gluten-free products.

The majority of our customers enquiring about GF products so far have been those for whom this situation is not a problem. Please do contact me if you have any questions.
